There is a hole in the wall in the cabinet under my kitchen sink. Is my apartment up to building code?

There is a hole, partially covered by the wood panel cabinet. But, since
pookie
there is a hole in the panel for the plumbing, you can see that there is a

The county (DeKalb county) doesn't have building codes; they
J.D
have zoning ordinances. The individual cities do have building codes.

I've included a link to the DeKalb county website (click on ''Code

The second link below has the Atlanta, Georgia building code enforcement
officers available. (Go to the link, & click on ''Find the Code
Enforcement Officer assigned to ur area''). Of course, if you are in
Stone Mountain, or Marrietta, or somewhere else, you will need that city
is website.
But the real question you have is ''can my building be up to code with
holes in the wall?'' And the answer is probably, ''yes.''
The ''pests'' are a seperate issue. Contact ur building owner (or whoever
you pay the rent to) & tell him of the roach problem. He is usually
obligated to send out an exterminator within a few days. They will do
that with even ONE dead roach in the corner somewhere. Call. If it
doesn't help, call again, & again. Write a letter to them if calling
doesn't get a response. The city will have a ''pest'' ordinance (although
a hole in the wall isn't a pest, a dead cockroach is!)
Your rental contract probably gives you specific remedies for dealing with
''pests'' such as termintes, roaches, mice, etc. Get ur contract out, &
re-read it looking for any mention of pests. Follow the terms of ur
contract. Remember that contract is designed to protect you & the
landlord. Use it!
